Yes, while we've been shipping meat ordered through our website since 2010, we've never offered any kind of insurance or shipping protection. As a result, we've covered the burden of lost, delayed, and spoiled packages at our own expense.
Well, while UPS and FedEx are incredibly reliable, they, like me and you, are not perfect. Anyone who has ever shipped many things through the mail understands there is some level of unreliability that exists.
Instead of raising our prices for everyone on products to cover this loss, we were contacted by ShipInsure, who we believe offers us the most comprehensive and cost effective option.
By allowing customers to choose this service, we put each customer in the driver's seat to choose whether or not this is a good option for them.
No! You are welcome to continue to order from us and decline this new feature.
If an order is lost, delayed or delivers spoiled, but shipping protection was not collected on the order, the customer absorbs 100% of the liability of shipping related issue. There will be no offer of refund, reships or coupon codes to replace the lost or spoiled goods. If the order is incorrect due to a mistake on our farm's part, we will certainly make this right for you. As always, we will take responsibility for any mistake made by our staff.
ShipInsure integrates with our online store checkout process. During checkout, you will see an option to insure your order. This fee is ~ 3% of your order subtotal. If your order is lost, delayed or delivers spoiled, you simply start a claim via the shipping protection email you received when you placed your order. If you cannot find this email, reach out to our team and we will resend it to you.
Please be sure to check the shipping address for accuracy before submitting your order.
Our advice is that if you've ever experienced an issue with your order delivering on time in the past, this is a good option for you. If you've never had an issue with deliveries in the past, you probably don't need it.
We usually see delays occur for those who live west of the Mississippi and north of Maryland.
We also encourage you to consider this if you are moving to a new home and haven't received many shipments from UPS or FedEx. Many issues occur with new developments, neighborhoods and apartment complexes.
Shipping protection should also be considered seasonally - hurricane season in Florida, snow storms in the Northeast, flooding in the... well, it seems there are floods everywhere these days. There is no one who is watching your local weather more closely than you.
Shipping protection is a great way to have peace of mind.
If you are a Village Mayor in our loyalty program and you need to add shipping protection, reach out to our Customer Service Team and we will refund your fee as a courtesy.
