More about your presenter:

Jessica is the hog and poultry manager at White Oak Pastures. Her varied background includes a biology degree, health-supportive culinary arts degree, permaculture certificate, and experience in forestry, conservation, and animal husbandry. As a young adult, she embraced the rewilding movement and thought wild foods were superior to agriculturally produced foods. After finding deer rumens and turkey crops full of neonicotinoid-covered corn and working on a “conservation” project that involved spraying herbicide to control invasive plants on public land, Jess realized that wild foods weren't guaranteed to be cleaner than agriculturally produced foods. This led to an interest in farming in a way that mimics nature as much as possible. Finding ways to raise livestock that bring them closer to their biological norm is what excites her most about her job at White Oak Pastures!

Travel advisory:

If your travel plans include flying, please note that the closest airports to our farm are a bit too far for ride sharing services such as Uber or Lyft. We recommend making arrangements for a rental car to ensure you have adequate transportation.

Please Note! *Event ticket purchases are final, and cannot be refunded. However, we know life can get in the way! Please contact us if you need to cancel your participation in an event that you previously purchased tickets for. We will be happy to credit your money for a future farm visit, in the form of a credit in the General Store towards food/merchandise, lodging, or towards another event.

Our educational classes and workshops are not geared for small children, unless otherwise specified. As a general rule, a child under ten is not able to participate, due to safety concerns. If you would like to purchase an adult-priced ticket for a teenager, you may do so with the understanding that we usually recommend our educational opportunities for those 18 years old and up.
