Spend a day with Tanya Batskikh, the owner of Cultured Traditions! In this workshop, you will be learning about fermentation, what exactly it is, its many health benefits, and how to make your very own ferments. There will be both classroom time, along with many hands-on learning opportunities. We will be going to the White Oak Pastures Organic Garden to pick some in season produce, then returning to our Event Center to make vegetable brines to take home!

Your ticket includes:

  • Walking Farm Tour
  • Farm-Fresh lunch

Cabin and RV Park lodging options online at: https://whiteoakpastures.com/pages/farm-cabins

If your travel plans include flying, please note that the closest airports to our farm are a bit too far for ride sharing services such as Uber or Lyft. We recommend making arrangements for a rental car to ensure you have adequate transportation.

Meet your Presenter:
My name is Tatiana Batskikh, or Tanya for short, I am the owner of Cultured Traditions, a small batch fermentation shop. I was born and raised in Russia, in the Ural mountains, very near the place where the movie Doctor Zhivago was filmed! I always get asked how I ended up in Georgia - I came to the United States a few times as an exchange student when I was still in college then I moved to Georgia soon after I graduated. And now, many years later, I am still here. I live in Cumming, GA with my husband Charles and four amazing children - Janet, 9, twins Charli and Max, 6, and baby Carri who is just 2 months old.
Cultured Traditions was born out of love and passion for naturally fermented foods that were, and still are a way of life in Russia - this is how families preserve their crops for long cold winter months. I started out with our traditional Russian style ferments - Russian Style Sauerkraut, Beet Kvass, Pickles, all those things that I missed so much and couldn't imagine my life without. However I love to experiment, so along the way we have added many other interesting things to our product line, and every few weeks something new inevitably gets produced in our kitchen.

Please Note! *Event ticket purchases are final, and cannot be refunded. However, we know life can get in the way! Please contact us if you need to cancel your participation in an event that you previously purchased tickets for. We will be happy to credit your money for a future farm visit, in the form of a credit in the General Store towards food/merchandise, lodging, or towards another event.

Our educational classes and workshops are not geared for small children, unless otherwise specified. As a general rule, a child under ten is not able to participate, due to safety concerns. If you would like to purchase an adult-priced ticket for a teenager, you may do so with the understanding that we usually recommend our educational opportunities for those 18 years old and up.
