Did you know that rabbit manure is the best for vegetable gardening? As a wonderful organic fertilizer not conducive to the microbes that cause illness in humans, rabbit manure is extra valuable when you know how they are raised. Whether you grow them as pets, for their rich fertilizer, or meat, there are some specifics that we want to share! Join us to learn how we developed our pastured rabbit production system and how we utilize them in our vegetable production to heal the soil. This workshop will cover raising and breeding in a hybrid pasture model, perfect for homesteaders or enthusiasts looking to raise rabbits for meat.

Join us on the farm for a beginner’s guide to learn about:

- Rabbit basics (e.g. handling, feeding, and care)

- Setting up small-scale rabbit housing and considerations for indoor vs. pastured model

- Tips for breeding, nest boxes, and kindling

- Identifying the sex of kits and ear tagging

- Humane slaughter and processing (demonstration provided for those interested)

- Discussion of primitive processing of pelts
